Know More About Students Against Drunk Driving

Students are most prone towards the tendency to drink and drive. Both drinking and driving is novel to them and they want to experience the thrill of the two time and time again. Hence, they get all the more involved in drunk driving. But of late, there has been a collective voice of students against drunk driving. Students themselves are coming out to inform other students about the life threatening consequences of drunk driving.

Students are just like other teenagers. Teenagers usually get affected by the actions and behaviors of others. They always try to imitate the actions of someone whom they like or from whom they get inspiration. This inspiration can be either positive or negative. If the inspiration is positive then it may help them to become somebody good in their life. But in case of a negative one it may induce negative and harmful effects inside them. The most common negatives can be smoking, drinking and other such activities. Another such activity can be drinking while driving. This negative effect is clearly visible with the increased number of students involved in alcohol related accidents on the road. Therefore, to stop this, an organization was started whose sole aim was to discourage students from drinking while driving. This organization is Students against drunk driving. Its objective is achieved with the help of several meetings, seminars, and presentations educating about the various harmful effects of the drunk driving.

Various members of this organization visit schools and organize presentations to help the students know about the harmful effects of drinking while driving and the need to quit it. The members use different techniques to inform students about this activity. These may include an empowerment wristband. This is usually a red color band and has the word empowerment engraved on it. The word power is bolder than the rest of the word so it will stand out. This encourages the students in spreading the word related to the campaign and showing support of those people who don't drink alcohol.

Students usually have a very sensitive mind. So the process of making them understand about the harmful effects of drunk driving should be done with a lot of care and attention. It has been estimated that around five million school students drink more than once in a month and those students who started drinking before 15 years of age have increased chances of becoming alcoholics. Parents of the students should play a bigger role than these kind of organizations to have a control on the drinking habit of their children. They should know what their child's capacity is and should provide him the relevant information regarding the harmful effects of drunk driving.

The community of students against drunk driving believes in the capacity of the youth for taking necessary steps and for bringing about a desired change. Such organizations are helping to reduce alcohol road accidents which are increasing at a rapid pace in today's world.
