DUI Test For Controlling DUI Incidents
Out of the total number of arrests being made in the US, arrests related to drunk driving constitute a major portion. Some of the popular DUI test are walk and turn, horizontal gaze nystagmus (following an object like a pen from side-to -side with your eyes), one leg stand, hand pat and fingers-to-thumb. All these tests are conducted by the arresting officer. Apart from all these some officers also uses a road side breath testing device called breath analyzer. Theses are called as preliminary alcohol screening units that give a rough estimation of blood alcohol concentration. Some agencies use them although they are not reliable.
However the easiest way by which an incidence of drunk driving can be tested is to check the driving pattern of the driver. He usually drives the car by jumping the lane or drives erratically if he/she is drunk. The secondary method is by identifying the all telltale signs of drunkenness like thick or slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, fumbling with a wallet to get the driver license, flushed face, unsteady gait or leaning on the vehicle for support and difficulty in following the rules. All these DUI tests are performed to evaluate the condition and alcohol content in the body of the driver involved in a drunk driving accident. With their help, accidents can be avoided provided the tests are done on time. |
